Alexis Allen, Resource Director
email: alexisa@fullcirclefarm.com
Describe
your role as Resource Director? How long have you been doing this? What other positions have you held at Full Circle Farm? In total, how long have your worked there?
I came to FCF in spring of '08 and intentionally have a title that makes one wonder. My job is to help
Full Circle employees create the structure and obtain the tools they might need to do their job better and
in concert with others. Using the proper buzz words,
this means I do organizational development stuff, with roots in human resources and also oversight of the customer service function.
What led you to FCF and why?
Anyone who has worked in or buys organic produce in this area knows of Full Circle - so when there's a job opening in your area of experience you jump on it. Are you kidding!? I couldn't imagine an opportunity more wholesome as the very source of something so important to me - good beautiful food grown right.
Describe some current values/belief systems that are relevant to your work at FCF.
Anything is possible. I believe that there is a solution to every problem - though it may take time and creativity to be reached. I am an ardent diplomat and patient with people and processes.
What is the most meaningful and/or best part about working at FCF? How has it changed your life?
Organic farms have the reputation for being cool little funky operations. I love cool little funky operations but
the best part of working at Full Circle is knowing that I can help the farm as it matures its ability to support more
people with healthy food and satisfying jobs. I refuse to believe that good, hard work has to be void of fun!
What is your favorite meal and do you like to cook?
I love to cook and could never have A favourite all-time meal. During the summer I can eat off the grill
every night without problem - eggplant with a slice of tomato and leaf of basil, corn on the cob, summer squash…
salmon, chicken thighs, a nice New York steak every few weeks. Simple things with olive oil, salt and pepper…
When you're not working, how do you like to spend your time?
My time away from work is spent with my three year old daughter Stella - focusing on what life is really all about: bike rides, berry picking, silly dancing. My husband Allen is good for that too, but the berry picking is more like sharing a nice bottle of wine. Doesn't seem to matter what it is we're doing exactly just being together is the best.
Music you like to listen to or best book you've read so far this year?
This year I've been into Langhorn Slim and The Avett Brothers - I love great song writing and musicians that can make you sing along and thrash and dance and stomp.
